Newtown Theatre Newtown Rotary's pet project, the restoration of the Newtown Theatre, is ongoing. The original theatre was built in 1831 on land deeded to the community by William Penn. Play a part in this cause by purchasing a brick for the sidewalk. It will be engraved with your name, business name, or commemoration. See info about upcoming events! |

A Woman's Place Last year Newtown Rotary collected a ton of usable clothes for A Womans' Place in Doylestown. These items are either used or recycled in their clothing store. The next collection will be for used printer cartridges. Start collecting now. |

Pedals for Progress Pedals for Progress collects old, usable bicycles for distribution to developing countries. On a Saturday in November, in the parking lot of Old St. andrew's Church parking lot we collect bikes which will provide transportation for impoverished people to get to work, markets, health care and other services. |

Sri Lanka Our esteemed president, Dr. Howard Laister, travaled to Sri Lanka to see first hand how the reconstruction is progressing after their devastating tsunami. In 2005 we rebuilt a house there. In 2006 we provided 4 wells and 26 toilet and septic systems for an entire village. The esteemed doctor is now working on a project to provide inexpensive lap top computers to children in under-developed nations. |

Road Cleanup, Twice a year Newtown Rotarians are needed to spend one hour helping to clean up our section of Almshouse Road. Doughnuts and coffee aid the effort. Lets get some new faces out for the clean-up. |

Third Grade Dictionaries In September and October the Newtown Rotarians distribute dictionariesto all third graders in the area. Private, public and parochial schools are included. Last year we gave out 1150 books.
